JSA Horticulture Work Experience ProjectWILLIAM Mills is a dab hand these days when it comes to working on the garden. The Rockhampton man has been out in his yard pruning the trees since he gained a Certificate II in Horticulture from the Australian Agricultural College Corporation. And he plans on doing another similar course to improve his chances in gaining employment in the field.

William, who is currently unemployed, yesterday said the course was a lot of fun and he was pleased to add another certificate to his qualifications. “It will further my employment chances and further my training. You can never have too many certificates to help your employment prospects,” he said….. see full article

Downer EDi MiningIn 2011 Buderoo developed a strong relationship with Downer EDI Mining to provide indigenous employment opportunities in the mining sector, which saw local indigenous jobseekers obtain various traineeships. In 2012, Buderoo will continue to work with Downer EDI Mining to seek more opportunities within this fast growing industry. JSA Cultural Arts Work Experience Project

MT Archer State School now hosts a spectacular new art work thanks to the dedication of eight local job seekers. In a joint project with Buderoo Employment and Training and Mt Archer State School the job seekers completed a 20-metre Indigenous mural artwork.

Job Services Australia Buderoo Employment and Training manager Rennae Hong said the project had helped the participants gain valuable skills.“The purpose was to give them the skills and work ethic and motivation to be involved in a community project that can give them a sense of cultural identity,” Ms Hong said

“Over the four weeks they spent three days a week at the school applying their own designs to the wall and during this period they’ve undergone some accredited training amongst all this which gives them an idea of what its like to work within a team environment.” ……. see full article
